I have always had an eye for art and a natural talent for creating something beautiful from something simple. In the late '80s while living in Japan, I fell in love with many Japanese crafts, and in particular a technique for decorating eggs with washi paper. I used this handmade paper to decoupage eggs, and from this simple craft a life long love was born.
I quickly discovered new and wonderful ways to take the simple, blank canvas of the egg and transform it into countless unique art pieces. Inspired by Faberge, yet using real eggs, I am able to create everything from jewelry boxes, purses, necklaces and even elaborate pieces such as my cinderella coach and ferris wheel.
Utilizing various tools and supplies, including Swarovski crystals, rich paint and pigments, delicate lace and ribbon, hand blown glass ornaments and hand crafted figurines, I drill, paint, epoxy and work infertile eggs into timeless art pieces. These eggs are goose, hen, ostrich, emu, rhea, finch, chicken, quail, parakeet, tinnamou, pigeon, pheasant, duck, peafowl, swan and cassowary, all from the best, most humane ranches and breeders, and only the finest, cleanest eggs are selected by me personally.
I love the work I do, and have had the great privilege to travel through the United States as well as throughout the world showcasing my specialized, handcrafted art. It has been published by numerous print and online news outlets, and my beautiful eggshell creations have even appeared on television. With this exposure, I have been able to share my passion with others, especially while teaching my eggshell art classes and offering kits that make it possible for you to create your own art at home.
I hope you enjoy my pieces as much as I enjoy making them, and thank you for the opportunity to share them with you. Please contact me with any questions, for special orders, or if you would like a customized egg of your own. I would love to collaborate with you on your own unique idea and bring it to life.
So come on in and take a look around, they don't hatch!
